The Apostolic Nunciature in India and Nepal has re-designed its own website and
layouts thanks to the cordial encouragement and commitment of my competent Collaborators
of the first months of my Pastoral work in Delhi and Kathmandu: Msgr. Henryk Jagodzinzki,
Mons. Mauro Lalli, Mons. Tuomo T. Vimpari and, the last days, Msgr. Patrick Zay
Han.
The promptness, dedication and invaluable competence of Franciscan Solutions, permit
us to offer a special service to the People of India, through this website, facilitating
contacts, mutual acknowledgement and esteem, with an extraordinary potential for
the complexity of its uses.
The diffusion of internet opens for the Apostolic Nunciature a range of means of
communication that permit the almost instantaneous communication of words and images
across enormous distances of India and Nepal and of the most isolated corners of
the world.
The prevalently young peoples of India and Nepal, in particular, grasp the enormous
capacity of the new media to foster connectedness, communication and understanding
between individuals and communities, and in these Countries they are turning to
these means for communicating, meeting, forming communities, seeking information
and sharing their ideas and opinions. This Mission of the Holy Father Francis with
simplicity and profound respect dares to enter in the flow of this new culture of
communication, which is so well developed in India and Nepal.
Therefore, this Pontifical Representation approaches these communication media as
means, not as an end in itself, for providing information and stirring interest,
as they favour an initial encounter especially among the youth who increasingly
turn to the world of cyberspace as a window on the world.
There already exist on the Net countless sources of information, documentation and
education about the Church and the Holy See. It is clear, then, that while the Internet
can never replace the personal experience of a personal encounter, it can certainly
provide a unique supplement and support both in the preparation for the encounter
and as support in the spiritual path.
Understanding and wisdom are the fruit of a contemplative eye upon the world, and
do not come from a mere accumulation of facts, no matter how interesting. They are
the result of an insight which penetrates the deeper meaning of things in relation
to one another and to the whole of reality. In such a context, I hope that this
means could contribute to cultivate that wisdom which comes not just from information
but from insight, the wisdom which is discernment. Thus I would like to hope and
wish that this website be a precious gift that will offer immense possibilities
for encounter and solidarity and communion.
